Desert Terror is a short film and pilot episode to a broader series taking place in WWII with SciFi elements. The creator and director of Desert Terror, Matt Poitras, and his fellow filmmakers share a lifelong love of adventure films, World War II history and the fantastical and otherworldly. These passions came together in this innovative project that tells the story of a heroic SAS commando team in the North African theater of World War II who capture a lone Wehrmacht soldier. Enemies are forced to become allies when they are attacked by a terrifying entity that could not only end their lives, but change the entire course of the war.
Shot entirely on location outside Austin, Texas during the summer of 2020, Desert Terror was a labor of love (and sweat!) by a small and dedicated crew with a burning desire to create a unique and otherworldly adventure during the height of the pandemic. Alongside sweltering heat, all-night shoots, a shoestring budget and occasionally uncooperative WWII-era vehicles and weapons the indie filmmakers had a challenging task but everyone survived and now Desert Terror has 1.2 million view on the Bad Bueno Films YouTube page. All the action and animatronics seen in this film used real life practical techniques. This is a truly unique film in its creation and execution.
